ARBOR GLENN ESTATE BUYERS SAY: "WE'VE NEVER SEEN NEW SCHAUMBURG TOWNHOMES THIS NICE!"
Buyers are heading to Arbor Glenn in the village of Schaumburg, drawn by large, well-appointed kitchens with granite countertops and brand-name appliances, said George Caravelli, president of Worthington Enterprises, Ltd.
Worthington is building 30 new townhomes in a prime location minutes from Woodfield Mall and Interstate 90, near restaurants, theaters and other services.
"Our buyers tell us that they have never seen Schaumburg townhomes this nice - or anywhere else, for that matter. They also like the option of having us finish the basements, which are poured 9 feet deep - an truly unique feature among Chicago-area townhomes," Caravelli said. "These residences combine the size, design and attention to detail of our custom homes, but with the convenience of maintenance free living."
Base prices range from $494,900 to $576,000 for the brick two-stories which have upscale standard features such as dual-zone heating and air conditioning, extensive dental and crown moldings, oak staircases, Anderson wood windows, fully insulated, dry walled garage, hardwood or ceramic tile flooring on the first floor and six-panel, solid core doors. Dining rooms have chair rails; family rooms have wood-burning fireplaces with oak mantel and full stone face and kitchens have Whirlpool Gold appliances, Kohler faucets, 42-inch cabinets and Corian counters. Second-floor laundry rooms are equipped with a washer and dryer, and there is a generous allowance for electrical fixtures.
Homes are open, with plenty of windows for a light-filled effect, and selected rooms have vaulted ceilings. Buyers also have the flexibility to alter the floor plan to better meet their needs, Caravelli said.
"Our custom home experience gives us the knowledge to adapt the plans to meet special requests of the homeowners," Caravelli said. "Possibilities include a second-floor family room, an entertainment center, media rooms, butler's pantry, built-in bookcases, a wet bar, screened-in porch, Kitchen Aid appliances, a steam shower, a finished basement and exercise rooms."
Kitchens can be outfitted with custom tile backsplashes, available commercial appliances and custom kitchen hoods including limestone, stucco, stainless steel, tile and wood. Carriage-style garage doors, stained or painted fiberglass entry doors, custom columns, wainscoting, all Kohler plumbing fixtures and flooring choices from exotic woods to limestone give buyers further choices.
Three plans provide from 2,327 to 2,875 square feet of living space. There also are custom layouts with up to 5,000 square feet available.
The 2,327-square-foot Bel-Aire, priced from $494,900, has three bedrooms plus a loft, 2 1/2 baths, full basement and two-car garage. The home also has a private courtyard with an optional outdoor fireplace that is accessed through the breakfast room.
The 2,327-square-foot Newport, priced from $499,900, has three bedrooms plus a loft, 2 1/2 baths, full basement and two-car garage. It features a dining room open to the home's gourmet kitchen, and buyers have the opportunity to add a fireplace to create a hearth room. The home also has a private courtyard with an optional outdoor fireplace that is accessed through the family room.
The Glen Wood model, priced from $576,000, provides 2,875 square feet of living space. It has three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and an additional 1,148 square feet in the full basement with nine foot ceilings. The two-story entrance is accented by columns defining the entrance to the great room and formal dining room. The home also has a breakfast room brightened by a wall of windows and a first-floor office. Upstairs, the master bedroom has vaulted ceilings and a sitting area accented by decorative columns. The master bath has a soaking tub with whirlpool jets, separate shower, dual vanities with Corian tops and ceramic tile. The home also has two other bedrooms which share a hall bath. A loft area completes the second floor.
A brick and stone monument welcomes visitors to the community that has a masonry privacy wall which gives Arbor Glenn the feel of a private estate, Caravelli said. The community also features extensive landscaping with decorative streetlights and coordinated exterior lighting and mailboxes.
