Brenda Sypolt, our newly elected president, brings us a fresh perspective with new and innovative ideas. She recognizes the importance of educating our youth regarding the effectivenss of political involvement. "Not all of our members can vote yet but they will one day and they need to understand the issues so that they can ask the right questions and get the answers they need to better their future." says Brenda. "We are the future of this country and we need to be educated on the facts so that we can be prepared to lead this country in the years to come."

Scholarship Program

The program was originally in place many years ago but was stopped due to lack of leadership. A scholarship program is important to the Hellenic youth of our country aiding them in their efforts to pay for their education. The United Hellenic Youth is reinstating this program and looking to launch a donation campaign to help fund it. Applications will be available in the spring and we will announce the scholarship winners at our 2014 Dinner Dance event. Please contact us if you would like to get involved.

"Care for Costa"

Young Costa Matsoukas in Evia Greece has suffered from deformity for the past 11 years of his life. A childhood accident caused this young man to suffer 1st degree burns over 50% of his body. Now at 15 years old he is finally able to undergo the cosmetic surgery necessary to restore his appearance. With the economic downturn in Greece his family is unable to afford the cost of his procedures. The United Hellenic Youth of America is providing fundraising.efforts to help Costa with his treatment. a new direction

Brenda has brought many new ideas to our youth organization providing us with an energizing start to the year. Realizing the needs of her generation her agenda is more philanthropically based. Education is a priority for today's youth and those in need should be provided with the ability to achieve their educational goals. A scholarship fund will be reinstated beginning in the Fall of 2014.

As philanthropy is part of her agenda, a chance encounter with a young burn victim from Greece brought on the "Care for Costa" fundraising events. This program will allow the United Hellenic Youth of America to collect funds to help this young man and his family pay for his care.
